Over the years, I have encountered many DBAs at various companies and in various situations. I have sometimes been surprised by their helpfulness but, I have to admit, I have more often been surprised by their lack of helpfulness. (I suppose, at this point, given the ratio, I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of helpfulness but I always enter into the situations with the highest of expectations.
