After watching one of the most incredible tennis matches in history; one of those matches where both opponents raise to the occasion of becoming a fight of titans; one of those matches that surely dignifies tennis Football - Made in Spain - June 2008 (Never Forget!)After a superb and rather relaxing weekend back at home, now that I am done with most of the travelling and having finished catching up my breath with multiple things, both in my personal and work lives, there isn't probably a better way of finishing the weekend than putting together this blog post celebrating Heroes and a Token of GratitudeA token of gratitude to all of those folks who have been working really hard in helping avoid that a larger disaster would be happening in both of Gran Canaria and Tenerfie. And also another token of gratitude to Canarias7 for demonstrating actively during the last few days how traditional news media can still blend quite nicely with the new social media coming out stronger than ever. Finally!After several days of struggling to control the fires in Gran Canaria, it has just been announced earlier on this morning that they are now officially under control. Here is a weblog post to reflect some more on this and also to share some of the international press coverage. More to come ... Gran Canaria Fires - Almost There! Almost under Control...After five days of constant fight with the fires in a good chunk of Gran Canaria, it looks like things are starting to be under control, at least, for the time being. We will now have to wait and see what happens tonight and tomorrow, where we all know it is going to be crucial. Here is some hoping that tomorrow we would be back to *normal*, if we could ever say that again ... Sin Cabeza (Headless)"In general I have got more *brains* than those whose who make use of me!" Gran Canaria and Tenerife Disasters and Some Mixed FeelingsAnother follow up weblog post on how things are developing in both Gran Canaria, where I live, and Tenerife, with around 35,000 hectares of woods completely destroyed and 12,000 people evacuated thus far. Thank goodness, the heat wave and the sirocco winds are starting to give in a bit! It still hurts very much so watching the news, seeing the video clips, the pictures, the news items, the weblog posts, Dramatic Weekend in Gran Canaria ... and Now Tenerife, Too! - Part IIHere is a follow up weblog post on the tragedy we are going through at the moment, where not only Gran Canaria is affected by the fires, but also Tenerife.
