A few interesting presentations posted to the DB2 web site

I just came across a bunch of BetaWorks presentations out on the DB2 web site. They caught my eye because they are not only the the PDF version of the presentation, a Microsoft media file (wmv) is also included.

EM reports error "tail +2" in $OH/sysman/admin/scripts/osCpuUsage.pl

There was an error message in the EM said that cannot open "tail +2" in line 33 of $OH/sysman/admin/scripts/osCpu Usage.pl". I find that "tail +2" is not supported in linux RHEL5 but can work in AIX. Perl's @INC - am I missing the point?

When building (compiling) perl, I wanted to include a directory where we install our local modules. So I built perl with -Dotherlibdirs=/app/ common/oracle/perl/local. Later, I installed various modules with PREFIX=/app/common/oracle/perl / local However, perl can't find them (and yes, I checked and /app/common/

As a result the variable is evaluated as null and does not appear in the string. Is there a way to say to the Perl interpreter - do not evaluate the string defined at the start, but wait until it is used?

I could've asked this same question at any time during the past 10 years. The answer is still elusive.

I want to create the same sort of script that produce a "." or similar symbol for each fraction of second that goes by. If I knew the 'key' words
